Dilation

If you are a new patient to our office or if it has been some time since your last thorough examination, your eyes will probably be dilated.

This dilated exam allows the doctors to detect various diseases which otherwise would be unnoticed. In some cases, dilation allows greater accuracy of your prescription for glasses.

Often dilation interferes with near vision for a few hours. Distance vision will probably be unchanged, although sensitivity to glare may be increased.

If you have ever experienced this sensitivity, you should make arrangements for alternative transportation.

Disposable sunglasses are often needed in bright sunlight and are available upon request.
